Hello! I have found my old WordPress account and now I am going to use it for my personal blog.

Today is March 25, 2024. My name is Hershey and I am 34 years old. I moved to the UK from the Philippines when I was 26 years old for work and that move changed my life. But you know what else changed my life irrevocably? The things that happened in these 8 years that I left home, including the most recent but most harrowing one, which is the death of my beloved mom, Avelina, on February 9 of this year.

Losing her is something that still does not feel real to me and there are still times that I feel like I cannot or do not want to go on. One of the most helpeful things people have said to me was, “Go and talk to her. Just tell her everything, about what you’re feeling, tell her about your days, etc.” and that has truly helped. I don’t feel like my mom is gone, I do believe that her love transcends life and death, and that she lives on, in my heart and my siblings’s hearts and all the people who love her who are still alive today.

I could write about my mom forever but this is just my introduction and just a quick explanation of the blog name. I want to write letters to my mom, about my life, about my love for her, about everything under the sun.

So, welcome to the Dear Avelina, Love Hershey blog, my personal life blog.

If you’re lucky (haha) enough to stumble across this blog and read down this far, I hope you like what you’ve read so far. But know that this blog is just going to be boringly about me and my life, so you’ve been warned!
